AI Is Making Semantic Layers—and Event-Driven Architecture—Non‑Optional

AI is entering its “accountability phase.” As teams push models into core workflows (forecasting, risk, customer operations), the hard problem is less about finding a better model and more about ensuring the organization agrees on what the data means, where it came from, and how fast it can be trusted. For CTOs, this is a strategic inflection point: the winners will be the companies that standardize semantics and modernize integration patterns so AI outputs are explainable, auditable, and timely.

Two Snowflake posts point at the same root constraint from different angles. Architecture is the other half of the story. The emerging pattern: semantic layers are becoming the “control plane” for AI, while event-driven architecture becomes the “delivery plane.” Without semantics, real-time simply accelerates confusion (fast wrong answers).
