Trust as a System Property: AI Fraud, Safety Regulation, and the New Ops Guardrails CTOs Need
Trust is becoming a first-class engineering requirement as AI-generated deception (deepfakes, ‘AI slop’) accelerates and regulators respond with new safety expectations.

AI didn’t just change how software is built—it changed how software can be abused. Over the last 48 hours, several stories point to the same pressure line for CTOs: trust is no longer a policy doc or a security team’s problem. It’s an architectural requirement spanning product surfaces, identity flows, content systems, and operational tooling.
On the threat side, we’re seeing two adjacent phenomena.
